On-Sight and Area Amenities:

Quite often, fishing guests take a day just to relax here at the inn, play some golf or explore the greater Missoula area.  Ladies that are part of a couple’s fishing experience often enjoy a dedicated spa and shopping day!

Missoula is nicknamed the “Garden City” because of its lush, green landscape.  Seven golf courses and a beautiful riverfront park system add to the city’s garden-like feel. Galleries, museums, boutiques, specialty shops, vendors and Missoula’s Carousel create a special kind of feel that is both sophisticated and fun for all.

Historically, Missoula was a major travel corridor for tribal people, trappers, explorers, and settlers.  It lies within a beautiful mountainous region where five valleys and three major rivers converge. It’s a place where natural beauty is surrounded by a rich sense of history and culture.  Just four miles from the fishing lodge, guests can visit Travelers’ Rest, the only scientifically verified encampment along The Lewis and Clark Trail. Of additional interest to history buffs is the fact that the university library houses the earliest authorized edition of the Lewis and Clark journals.

If you have a day or more to spend, The Bison Range, Flathead Lake, Glacier National Park, and several prominent ghost towns, battlefield sites and nature preserves are within a half an hour to a short day’s drive away from the fishing lodge.

FOR SOME, spending the last day quietly relaxing at the lodge or in the vicinity of Blue Mountain is the most rewarding thing of all.

  • View wildlife from your deck with binoculars, guidebooks and a refreshing drink in hand.
  • Enjoy a game of billiards in the recreation room of the lodge.
  • Sit in the garden while you listen to the tranquil sound of the waterfall, feed the koi and read a book about local history.
  • Take in a bit of the West as you listen to the old player piano, watch the wild birds and take in views of the mountains, valley, and waterfall, all from the comfort of the living and dining areas. (Pianists will enjoy sitting down to the living room grand.)
  • Relax with an on sight massage in the privacy of your room or in the wellness space at the lodge.  Small but beautiful, the nature and wellness space has the most breathtaking views of any room on the property.  Combined with complete privacy, it is reserved for those who wish to experience a personalized wellness “retreat.”  A private deck near the lower waterfall creates an additional space for one’s personal wellness experience and connection to nature.  Whether you want a traditional massage or are interested in acupuncture, Reiki or other treatments, we have select individuals who are masters in different fields and work at the lodge by special appointment.

Take advantage of the inn’s twenty acres of registered wildlife habitat that opens onto both State and Federal lands (part of which includes Missoula’s the well known Blue Mountain Recreation Area where hiking, horseback riding, birding, frisbee golf and huckleberry picking are all possible).

No matter what you would like your stay to look like, Missoula Blue Mountain Fishing Lodge is here to help you make that happen!
